Table 1304 Sales Price & Discount Buffer Table - what is it for?

I populated Table 7002 Sales Price Table. When I go to the Item List, on the Ribbon there is an icon for Sales Price & Discount. When I open the icon - the information I populated Table 7002 with is there. What is the purpose of the Sales Price & Discount Buffer Table?

The mentioned table is used to display the combined salesprices and discounts for a specific item or customer in one page.
The prices are from default in tabel 7002/page 7002 and the discounts are ind table 7004/page 7004.

On the customer card you can see the result of the buffer calculation from the 2 tables.

I think the clue is in the table name: Sales Price and Line Disc. Buffer

Usually "buffer" tables are used internally in various calculations. So "buffer" + Sales Price and Line Disc. suggests it is used internally during calculating item prices and discounts.
