Hi
we need to install an MS-Office Suite on the NAV-Server.
Do we need a no. of Office licenses for any PC/Notebook in the Network
or do the locally on these PCs installed Office Versions count?

Standard NAV does not use Excel, it uses OpenXML library.
You don't need the Excel on the NST to use standard NAV functionality dealing with Excel files.Slawek Guzek

Why do you need the Office on the NST Server? As far as I am aware all NAV components interacting with Office applications are running on Client and 'talking' to Office installed locally on user's PCs...
If you have a bit of own code interacting with the Office on NST bear in mind that invoked Office components will share the memory among all users connected to the NST, as the NST runs user's session for all the users under parent service account session. There are no separate execution environments created for each connected user on the NST. That may be a cause of nasty errors or give unexpected results.

Hi, why on the middle tier? If you mean the terminal server with NAV client, then you have to licence it for each user once connected even if he/she never used it.Regards

Thx, that info helps a lot.
We do not have the standard NAV application, "Multibank Financials" is a corebanking solution for banks.
But we should use OpenXML also.Svensk.Tiger (Henning Möller)
