Item Attributes --> Customer Attributes?

Hi folks,
Great new feature, Item Attributes. Will prevent us from creating a bunch of custom fields in T27. But why did MS not also directly attach similar functionality to Customer T18?
A potential customer of mine uses quite some 'free fields' in their current ERP software. Values can be descriptive, amounts/decimals or options.
Converting this to NAV, the same attribute routine, but then for the customer side, look like a feasible option to me. Before I start developing this myself (based on Item attributes, of course), I wonder: somebody did this before?
Or is this not the correct way to go, should I think about other directions?
Beware: with Contact Classification (Profile Questonnaires) we can't manage it, since I cannot enter a decimal or free text as a value then.
Any experience with this, or thoughts? Please share!
Regards,
Michiel

Go for it, the feature is actually very generic. So it can be used on all types of master data. Just copy the whole thing and adapt.
If you need to print it, I have done that.
