How to edit GL Journal template in D365 Financials

I need to import GL journals with dimensions and it appears that dimensions cannot be added to the GL Journal template. I have seen some discussion on editing the template in VS to add the dimensions but nothing is specific. Does anyone know how I can do this in detail?
