One-time item

Hello,
We frequently buy and sell specific items that are only bought and sold once. Until now we always created a new item and posted receipt and shipment. This leaves us with a lot of items in our database that are not being used. It is not important to keep track of inventory information for these items, because they are being shipped immediately after receiving them.
Is there a better way to solve this issue? I was thinking about using a G/L Account instead of an item, or maybe using a "general" item and changing the description each time.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi iteas
For such purposes we are using one "general" item card, just changing description in orders. Cost method is FIFO.Regards,

There is an example I had posted on how to merge items. It's the perfect solution for your situation.

The example is for customers/ but you can change it for items.0 -

If the users who are doing this process have knowledge of accounting, you should use g/l account but if they don't, you can create some generic products to link them against accounts.0

Thanks for all answers! We chose to use a general item for this purpose.0
