Is it possible to sort the Lookup/DrillDown Page in the basis of string entered by the user in nav 2016 ?

Where would you like the user to enter 'a string' on a DrillDown?
On a lookup it is more likely to happen as the user can type a few letters in a field and click the Lookup, which then can be coded to do whatever you want do to. The trouble (for me) is that I don't really understand from given description what are you trying to do.
