Customer Balance and Date Filter - NAV2017 CU5

Hi,
It appears MS have added (CU5) "Date Filter" (linked to "Posting Date") on the Balance and Balance (LCY) fields of the Customer table.
This appears to be a very strange move as there is a field on the Customer Card (General Tab) called Balance (LCY) and this figure will now be subject to the standard date filter that MS apply to the Customer Card.
Seems "wrong" to me - anyone any idea why they have done this??
