SMTP setup is not working in nav 2009 R2

I am getting an error when i give SMTP server name smtp.gmail.com. User id and password are correct.

Please advice..

That means that your SMTP gateway is insisting that the connection be encrypted. In that version of NAV, there isn't an option for doing encrypted SMTP.

The ability to use SSL (TLS) connections for SMTP was added to NAV 2009 R2 as a hotfix. Have a look at this link...

Cool! I did not know that. They even updated the DLL, which means the update that has to be done to NAV is minimal.
