Data cutting in Nav 2009

Hello everyone,

I am trying to do a data cutting or data deletion, I have looked into various blogs and the given answer felt like it didn't suit my need, which is https://community.dynamics.com/nav/f/34/t/217630

Is there any way to delete the data like before a certain date via the SQL, Or is there any separate tool for the Data cutting for nav 2009?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mathan.

Deleting or compressing data is not something that can be answered as a single "fit every situation" method. The answers can depend heavily on what specific data is being asked about, its relation to other data, and even often how that specific system uses that data.

Next comes the question of why does data need to be deleted. Again this response may vary table to table. often I find the "reason" is disk space or the misconceived idea as the first approach to solving performance issues. In many ways the whole idea of "data deletion/compression" is a remnant of the past. Back when disk space was rather limited and expensive. Today neither of those conditions exist.

In terms of using SQL to do this, unless you have a very solid understanding of how NAV uses the data you intend to delete, I would strongly suggest not considering this path.

There are no bugs - only undocumented features.
