This is the big picture. I am using a Eltron Printer 2543 at a location outside the United States and we connect throught citrix but it take a while to get a label. What can I do to speed up the process?
Not the best solution but the first step could be to make sure the printer drivers are updated. Many drivers also have speed settings, you could change these to the maximum speed.
I know this an old topic, but we experience this exact same problem and have never found a solution.
We have two locations which are located about 150 miles apart. Our production servers are located in one office, and at the other office we access Navision through Citrix. We use the third party program E-Ship to do our shipping, which prints the shipping label to an Eltron thermal printer. At times it can be extremely fast, printing the label almost instantly. Other times, you can wait up to a minute for a label. It's completely random throughout the day and we've never found any rhyme or reason to it.
The drivers are up-to-date, our T1 between the offices is usually around 30-50% utilized, and the text file that is being passed is so small it shouldn't have any impact at all.
I'm convinced it's just a Citrix issue. Citrix and network printing has never been completely friendly.
