Insufficient Inventory in Manufacturing

Hi,

I inventory setup, I have "Prevent Negative Inventory" unchecked. All my item cards have "Prevent Negative Inventory" set to No.

I can post a decrease inventory adjustment in Item Journal that takes inventory negative.

However, when changing the status of a Released Production Order to Finished, I get messages saying "You have insufficient quantity of item ... on inventory." Can finishing production orders take inventory quantities negative? If so, what am I missing?

Maybe the items are set to Flushing Method "Backwards"
This will cause the system to consume them when you Finish a production order.

Even though the "Prevent Negative Inventory" is set to No there are still certain types of postings that cannot be carried out if they make inventory negative such as when using Bins or Item Tracking and I guess that Production Order Consumption posting is probably another since you are getting the error message.

Hi Reinhard,

Yes, items on the production order are set to Backflush. I'm getting the error for the component items. Looks like they may not be able to override the shortage.
