Runonclient Performance

Hi everybody,
Following @Vjeko article here http://vjeko.com/excel-interoperability-woes-in-nav-2013/, i made a tool to import an Excel file and i tried it on my own standalone machine (nav2017).
Wow, really nice, it works at the speed of sound...as soon as the .net variables are declared server side...as soon as i set them runonclient = true, the import speed falls down by more than 10x.
Disregarding the usefulness of this particular test, what am i missing? why is it so slow with runonclient = true? Some sort of ping-pong (on my own machine)?
