Navision Warehousing - best methods to integrate data

I operate within a food production facility and I am looking at the best way to integrate production data into warehousing within NAV2009.
We produce boxes of meat with unique barcodes on each one but I am hesitant to store each individual box record within NAV and am favouring storing it under a Product/Batch number combination.
When we sell the product out we can sell using Product/batch number combination to remove off warehouse location.
Can someone advise me what the best method to enable this would be as I have been wishing to implement this for some time but now with more focus on our stocks we need to have financial visibility through our different warehouses and to capture the devaluation of product when moving from one type (Fresh) to another type (Frozen).
