Query as webservices for searching data | NAV 2016

Hi,

My requirement is that I will have a search box for ex customer name.
When I press search then the request will be sent to NAV and they will got all the matching records.

For this in NAV should I publish a Query as ODATA or codeunit.
Which one will be best?

I know how to build it using codeunit and XMLport but little bit new on query side.
Can anyone tell me how can i pass filter or search string using webservices ??

you can use query with odata.
