Depends, sometimes you can if they haven't changed much between updates but very unlikely to be able to use CU1 and CU9 combination as they are so far apart. I wouldn't recommend it anyway though, much better to keep them in sync.

@UmairZulfi Have a look at this blog from the Microsoft NAV Dev team which discusses the possibilities of running with different builds between the NST and the clients...
