Upgrade from NAV 4.00 to NAV 2016.

Dear all,
I am currently doing the project of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. My client is currently on NAV4.00 and he wants to shift to NAV 2016. So before upgrading to 2016, the first step is to upgrade to NAV 2009.
For this, i have tried many tutorials, also the microsoft guide which is present in NAV 2009 setup. But i always stuck on the process on "Application Code Upgrade". The difficulty which i m facing is how to compare and merge? Like from 2013 onwards we have Microsoft Dynamics nav development shell but to migrate from NAV 4 to NAV 2009 we do not have any utility.
I have also try the software Araxis Merge, but i don't know how to manually merge and remove the conflicts.
This is causing me severe issues. I have googled alot but unfortunately not able to find any result regarding application code upgrade. So anyone who can share his experience or guide me, specially about Application Code upgrade from Dynamics NAV 4.00 to Dynamics NAV 2009, I'll be thankful to him.

Can you please provide me any resource which basically tells the strategy like what do we need to consider while upgrading the application code? When to replace / append etc?

@saravanans87, I am facing an issue while using merge tool. The issue is that when i try to merge it it shows too much conflicts. When i see the conflicts most of the conflicts is due to MLCaption property

- The original one in MLCaption property is ENU , however in client customized version is DK, NOR etc . so it show me the conflict on almost every field of every tables. Is there anyway i can fix it one time and it works for all the conflicts of such type? because i don't care, about MLcaption property so it can help me in reducing my work load.
