Hi Guys,

i have a problem with my NAV + Azure environment.

for my Australian Customer i've prepared Azure environment:

1. VM - D2_v2,
2. VM Region - North Europe (partner it's from Europe),
3. Azure SQL Datebase S0/S1,
4. NAV authentications : NavUserPassword

using NAV on a server, everything it's OK.

but using Windows Client from local computers my customer - NAV is very slow.

Customer has ethernet 10 Mbs .. i didn't try turn of antivirus.

so do you have some ideas about my problem, maybe do yo have some proposal about azure VM/SQL settings?

Best regards,
James

If your customer is in Australia while your servers are in North Europe, you probably have a network latency issue. Please consider these different alternatives:

    1. Consult the ISP and Microsoft sales in Australia - if they are able to setup Azure ExpressRoute for the customer. It is however quite expensive, and I am not sure if this actually will increase performance. Alternatively the ISP might be able to improve performance against Azure specifically for Europe, by increasing the priority in their network.

    2. Also, are you using Clickonce? Just thinking loud.. We at Navet have a customer with an office in USA, and experienced some performance improvements by running a proper RTC installation instead of ClickOnce. Try this is you use ClickOnce, it might help a bit.

    3. If they really have lots of issues, consider setting up a separate database and infrastructure for them.

    4. In the future, the might also be possibilities to make active SQL replications cross regional. I do however doubt that this will be applicable in your case, since this functionality is intended to be used for failovers. more info here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/sql-database-geo-replication-overview/

    Good luck!
