Hi all, I'm running the req. worksheet with a single item (for testing) which is set to the following planning params:
Max Inv: 1000
Reorder Point: 800
Order Multiple: 4
I'm using a production forecast in order to project expected sales since we have a 3 month (90D) lead time on the vendor (the items are being shipped from overseas)
When I run the req. worksheet, I always see that it suggests the receipt of the goods 3 months after the demand (even if the first demand is in 3 months time).
At the moment due to seasonal variation this may result in us being out of stock - we are keeping 3 months stock (+ an additional 20%) to account for the lead time, but occasionally demand is higher than projected.
Is there any way to get the req. worksheet to schedule the delivery to meet the demand instead of proceed it by the lead time? Interestingly, if we run a lot-for-lot schedule, the receipts match the demand exactly, however, there is no "buffer" inventory level, NAV tries to keep the inventory level at 0.
Any ideas?

A colleague of mine suggested the same, but we weren't sure how to keep the stock at the "safety level" - safety stock actually sounds right
I've tried it and and it does what I expect so thanks for the suggestion!
p.s. we use the record deletion tool you wrote quite a lot when testing
