Transactional Message Queue

I am working on a message queue monitor, but it only seems to be able to receive messages from a non-transactional message queue. Why does a transactional message queue not work? Every other Microsoft product only uses transactional queues and I can get Navision to wor only with non-transactional queues.
Does anybody have experience with getting messages from a transactional queue? Is there a parameter that I need to set when I open the receivequeue or something?
