Visualize different department(s) for different user(s)/profile/user groups

Hi,

I would like to know if someone has experience with the possibility to have different departments visible for different users/profiles/user groups... ?
The idea is that people responsible for sales only have the deparments "Financial Management" and "Sales & Marketing", the purchasers will only have "Financial Management" and "Purchase" available.

I'm currently running NAV 2016 build 44365.

Hey t_cracco,

I do understand your requirement, you want to hide the visibility of the specific modules from Department based on Users. This is something which you cant do, in other word it's a very tedious job to achieve this as you need to first hide the complete Department and need to Redesign complete Role center. What I suggested was though a workaround but most common practice to solve this requirement and easiest way to achieve this.

You need to go to User Personalization, there you will find list of users and then edit any user and shoose the required Profile ID for the specific users.

I know I can assign a profile to a user on the user personalisation. My real question is if it is possible that using a profile, it can only views a certain department(s) in the departments instead all or nothing.

You should play with Roles and Permission in that case and assign only those Objects which you want to give for a person working in any Department.

Tried this, added all the needed pages to an new permission set, but all the departments were still visible.

Did you assigned that Role Permission to that Individual User. I too did this for many specific users and the result is they may see those objects but if they will try to access those object they will face error like they are not allowed to access those Objects..
