Standard and FIFO Costs

We have approx 500 manufactured items that were incorrectly set up as Standard Costs, thus when we look at a production costs report these manufactured items have a cost of zero as the standard cost has never been populated.
Ideally we would like these to be FIFO, however the process to move from Standard to FIFO is very painful i.e. blocking, renaming and creating new items.
If I run the Standard Cost worksheet, would the result be the equivalent of a FIFO cost? If so they I can automate this at output journal time.

Life is for enjoying ... if you find yourself frowning you're doing something wrong
