Can we accept an input through dialog box in NAV 2015

I am trying to accept date as an input in dialog box. I'm very new to NAV, I tried to achieve it by googling and I found we can use Dialog.Input but I think that is no more used in NAV. 2nd way I found is by converting .net code to CAL code. So, is it the right way of doing or is there any other way to take input at runtime using dialog box?

yes, you need to use dotnet variable for this.
