Hi,
one of our client wants only Setups & Master Data into newer Version of NAV 2016. Currently he used NAV 2009 R2. So I mered all application code into NAV 2016 objects. for Data migration I cretaed Sql queries for each table which Transfer data from NAV 2009 R2 to NAV 2016 tables (Both Databases are on same Instance of SQL). After create & execute all queries (almost 100 Tables) data is transfer sucessfully into NAV 2016 tables.
I also check with NAV client to open Each Masters & setup, there is no Issue I found.
My Qyery is : Is this really suggested way to transfer data from one Version to another Version of NAV? (If only Masters & Setups are required?)
Because before start doing this activity I heard that when we do standard Data Migration Process, system converting & process with UNICON Data.
and if we not follow this process we may face problem in Navision client when we open data. But In my case I don't find any Issue.
Please share your feedback on this.
Thanks In advance.

What I feel the correct approach is -
1. Delete Data from all tables which are not required in NAV 2009.
2. Then Do a Data Migration To NAV 2016.
Reasons -
When you said Master data and Setups. You will also be considering taking into some tables fields whose structure have been changed in NAV 2016.
Your SQL Migration will not take into consideration that, as it just transfer data between fields. When you do a Data migration microsoft Toolkit will take care of it.
