Adjust cost item entry not responding

Hi,
i am using nav 4.0
one of my item have more then 30 thousands entries, when i run adjust cost item entry(ACIE) for this item, it take too long to run, or consider as not able to finish the process. because it took 4 whole days to run but it still in progress.
my questions:
1. the nav not responding after the the ACIE run for few minutes, is the process of ACIE still running in backend while the interface is not responding?
2. how long the system need to run ACIE for an item which having 30 thousand entries?
3. any others method which can faster the process of ACIE?
