Configure NAV 2009 Classic client

Hello

I have installed Microsoft nav 2009 R2 classic with native database on a server and have installed same client on several PCS.

But when I tried to connect to the database from the pc, it cannot find the server.

Is there any setup to add on the windows system etc/hosts files?

-Check first if the port has been blocked by the firewall.
-Use TCP and not TCPS on the client.

... and if you want to connect by server name, check hosts and services file on client computer. These file should contain IP andport mapping for NAV server.

It is not be necessary to use the servername and port in the hosts and services file (if the port is the standard one [2407 if I remember correctly], you don't even need to put it in the services-file where the database+server is running).

The hostname should be resolved by the domain.
If this does not happen, or if you have a different port, you can avoid changing the hosts and services file by using the TCP-address instead of the name. Or using TCP-address + port to be used (eg. "127.0.0.1:30000" for port 30000 on the local machine).

Are your Client Pcs able to PING the Server ?

Is the Classic Client (installed in the Server) able to connect the Server Database ?
