Hello,
I heard about the possibility to display the NAV Item Tracing in a diagram (with vba in Visio or similar).
The customer posts quite complex lot operations including transfer orders, production orders, ...
Does anyone have an idea about which technology one could use to realize this task?
Neither NAV nor SSRS reports seem to include such possibilities.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,

You can....
1. Use the Chart Generator Tool (links : http://blogs.msdn.com/b/nav/archive/201 ... gtrtc.aspx and http://blogs.msdn.com/b/nav/archive/200 ... ol-ii.aspx)
2. Use automation to create graph in Excel (link : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd338959.aspx)
3. Add a chart in your report (link : http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=141403)
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.
I might have to add some more details about the purpose of the required diagram.
Actually I'm talking about a genealogy tree style diagram that shows you the whole history of a parent lot and its child lots (including production mixing lots from other parent lots).
Please find attached a primitive example of what I'm looking for...
Thanks for further ideas, input...

I must say I don't really understand why the tracing information should be presented as a diagram.... It should be possible to present the information in the same way just using text!?

Thanks for the tip with Visio.
I will look into that next weekend.
In the meantime, if anyone has more ideas, they are most welcome!
Some background knowledge about this request: in a perfect world, the structure of the lot numbering system would have been done in a way that allows a presentation in text form.
Due to the complex nature of the posted operations (the lot number changes after each operation), the standard item tracing function became quite unreadable for a normal user.
Most of the time, she or he is confronted with 50+ lines representing the lot history. As I currently do not have the resources to change the whole work flow, I was looking for a way to quickly remediate the issue.
Thanks -
