Matrix report in nav 2013 r2

I am creating a matrix report which have 2 child dataitems under 1 parent dataitem, my data is showing fine, but the report is creating blank rows and blank columns, I am able to hide blank rows by toggling visibility of row, but i am not able to do the same for the column, whatever I do an entirely blank column shows up. Please help
