Where does Payment Registration Buffer takes its content fro

Hello,
Where does the "Payment Registration Buffer" takes its content from. What I am trying to do is add a field to Payment Registration Buffer and when it is posted the new field's value should reflect to posting table. And if possible I would like save the value of the new field to reflect to the original table also.
