If you are upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 from any version other than Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1, then you must perform a full upgrade that is described in the Upgrade Toolkit Manual.pdf file, which is included in the UpgradeToolkit\Documents folder on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 media.

Thank you again for the answer.
My supplier tell me one time again that an upgrade only nav5 database to nav2009r2 database is possible but only with the classic client. The RTC won't be available...
That's correct if they only do a technical upgrade: then they are only replacing the NAV client with a newer version and the application itself (the NAV objects) remains untouched.
If they perform a full upgrade, then they also need to merge the existing customizations into the new NAV objects, and then RTC will be available.
It's obvious that a technical upgrade costs less then a full upgrade, but then you can't use all new features of the new NAV version. You basically run your old NAV database in a new NAV client.
