Under which user you are running the server? Have the user access to the database file? Is it the domain user or only local user?0

Some small recap: you started server without problems, and after connecting with client, this error is showen?
Or this error is after starting the server?
The client is on the same machine as Server?
Which OS you are using?
Is this PC in network?
Can be silly questions, but I have no clear picture of your situation... #-o0 -

Look into Services for service Navision Database Server xxxx... and stop it... :-) may be that this is your problem... some server is running and the new server you want to start was trying to connect to the port, but the port is in use...0

8-[ Sounds like you are in a real mess. l am a newbie as well, but l think this might help. You are using onr machine for the server and client. In that case, you need to install the STANDALONE application. You are not keen on reading the manual, that is evedent in your level of desperation, so l suggest you try the following.
1) Install the COMPLETE client on your machine.
2) Copy your .flf to the installation folder ( c:\prog... files\micro..bus..sol..\... ) .flf is you license file hey!
3) Make sure you have the database database.fdb, or what ever you have called it to the same installation directory, ot whereever you want.
4) Start the client application, and choose the database location fro step 3 above.
Hope you will be up and running, if this does not help you, you need to take one great deep breath, go into your CD, Doc folder, and read, l mean read THUSLY..
Good day 8-[$cside -MBS

If you can't find the service listed in Control Panel, Services (did you look for a service named 'navision-server'?), then run Task Manager and look for 'SERVER.EXE' in the process list. If you find it, then it must be running as a service.
Note that the installation procedure for the Navision Server Service automatically starts the service -- you must stop the service before you can run '>server.exe' at the command line.0 -
i guess if all else fails you can uninstall everything & reinstall it again.
maybe this can help:
