NAV2013 - Replication

First post here - so please bear with me.

I have a client that has an operations in the southern and northern hemispheres. Currently Dynamics NAV is hosted in Europe, remote countries accessing NAV via Citrix, this works well. There is a desire (in theory) to move away from Citrix towards NAV2013 and it's web client. Experience suggests that the latency would be too great for the Australian operation. Their intranet solution uses a bespoke replication tool that keeps sql in sync.

Is replication an option where by services are provisioned in Australia (new licence databse/iis etc.) and this database is replicated back to the HQ database...- on prem solution!
