Different versions of NAV

Good day!

Can we have 2 different versions of NAV under a single server? Say we have a previous installation of 2009 SP1 being used by another "company" and another company will use 2013.

OS is Windows Server 2008 R2.
The database is MSSQL 2008 standard.

Eventually the older version will also be migrated but we could not right now because there is an add on (Requisition Management) that is not compatible to 2013 (says our business partner).

Your inputs are greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can have this two versions in the same server.

You need to save his own license in every database and of course open it with his proper client.

Thank you. Any effect on related services (role tailored service)?

While it is technically possible to run mixed NAV versions on the same Windows servers, there are other factors that may come into play if this is a cleint's live (production) environment:

    1. Microsoft does not support mixed environments. They require all prior versions to be uninstalled before the new version installed. This has mainly been since the introduction of NAV 2009 and applies only to live environments.

    2. If the client acquired their NAV 2013 license thru having an active Enhancement plan on their prior version, then they no longer have a valid license for that older version. Onky if they separately purchased a new NAV 2013 license do they still retain the rights to use the older version.
There are no bugs - only undocumented features.

You need to start every service with a different port.
