SourceTablePlacement: Saved - doesn't work sometimes?

Hoping for some help with an odd problem. In 2009 R2 client (Cronus database), when looking up the "Customer Ledger Entries" form from the Customer Form, no matter what I do I can't get the record position to save.

To my understanding, the default setting of "Saved" for the property "SourceTablePlacement" should handle this, but it just doesn't seem to want to work. I've removed all the table views, sort orders etc. and made sure there is no code behind the OnPush or on the OnOpenForm of the Customer Ledger Entries form, but still no luck, it always defaults to the first record by the primary key, even when I change the sort order on the form.

Is there some other property overriding it, or is it because it's called through the RunObject property that it's ignored?

I'm confused about this one :?
