Calculate Standard Cost on Assembly Item

I have items with assembly in more than one level. If I choose to buy some of the lower level assembly items I change requisition system on item to purchase and calculate standard cost. But when I use function cost shares or I print report BOM Cost Share Distribution it explodes all levels and rool up the cost and therefore I can't verify that the standard cost calculation is ok. I need a way to see the cost calulation done by the standard cost function similar to the one in manufacturing. Am I missing something or is there no such function availible?
