What happens in conversion of database?

Hi,

If I'm opening the database with new NAV 2009 build version I'll get a notification: "The database xxx on yyyy the server must be converted before you can use it with this version of MS NAV Classic"
If pressing OK to proceed then the conversion process begins and after that I can start to use a new NAV build with the database.
-> What does the conversion is technically doing to the database in order to make it possible to use it with the new NAV build?

Hi,

depends a little on the previous version of the database. Basically its changing some internal data and structures to be compatible with the new client. What do you need to do?

If it is "just" a hotfix it should update internal numbering so the version id of the metadata matches the version id of the client.

Otherwise there is almost no documentation on the internal binaries of NAV.
