Hi all, I have this problem in 2009 R2 classic, but you can find it also in 2013. When you create purchase orders with planning flexibility set to None, then the MRP does not take into account the order not only for the dates, but also for the quantities, by proposing you to purchase more items than needed. Try this:
1. Create a sales order of 100 pcs with shipping date 30/11/13 of any purchase item having Lot-for-lot with a reorder cycle 6M and Include Inventory activated
2. Run the regenerative plan, set the field "Plassing Flexibility" to None and carry ouy the action messages. NAV will create the purchase order with no flexibility
3. Now create a second sales order of 80 pieces of the same item but with shipment date prior to the first date, eg 15/11/13
4. Run the regenerative plan and you will see that this suggests you to buy 180 pieces instead of 80 only
If you change the shipment date of the second order and select for example 15/12/13, the engine behaves correctly, and propose you to buy only the 80 missing pieces to cover the needs; this reflects the fact that the field "Planning Flexibility" should affect dates and not quantities.
My customer rightly tells me that once the purchase orders have been sent to the vendor, they do not modify the quantities, and so they want to eventually issue new orders for the additional needs. Unfortunately, activating the flexibility we got this problem and I do not see alternatives in using this field.
Does anyone here have an idea on what to do?
Thanks,
Marco
