Hi

I am trying to install the 2013 RTC on a Win 7 PC. Everything appears to run smoothly but it finishes with errors and this is what it says:-

Any help would be much appreciated ..

Hi how are you installing it, please use the setup msi in NAV 2013 DVD and run it as administrator. NAV requires some perquisites and will install those if you run the setup from main folder instead of going through individual folder msi.

Hi. I Install it like I install all the other 2013 RTC clients, using Setup, and running as Adminstrator. On this occasion, the first time it installed netframework 4.5, installed client components, and gave the error. I tried to install it again and it didnt install netframework, on the client, but gave the error again.

At no point did it complain about any other pre-requisistes, as I have seen on some other installs. I have already installed the 2013 RTC client at least 10 times, but never come across this situation.

At the end of the log it says the following:
SUCCESS: Package Microsoft Dynamics NAV Setup Components executed sucessfully.
SUCCESS: Package Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 executed sucessfully.
SUCCESS: Package Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 executed sucessfully.
SUCCESS: Package Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools For Office 2010 (32-bit) executed sucessfully.
SUCCESS: Package Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2010 SP1 executed sucessfully.
SUCCESS: Package Open XML SDK 2.0 for Microsoft Office executed sucessfully.
SUCCESS: Package Microsoft Exchange Web Services Managed API executed successfully.
ERROR: Package Microsoft Dynamics NAV Client Components failed with error. See detailed message above.

So it's the NAV client component that is a problem, but I have no idea why or how to get around it.

Have you checked the log file (C:\Users\vkoopman\AppData\Local\Temp\setup.wix.msi.4.log) for more details? What does it have in it?
  • NoelineNoeline Member Posts: 54
The log is listed on my first post. There is nothing in there that gives me an indication of what could be wrong.
  • KishormKishorm Member Posts: 921
That looks like the main install log, but If you look at it you'll see that the install has several sub installs and each of these produce a log file. Have you checked the log I mentioned in my previous post? Can you post the details of that log?

In particular, your original log contains the following...

    Configuring package. Id = 'RoleTailoredClient'
MSI log file set to: C:\Users\vkoopman\AppData\Local\Temp\setup.wix.msi.4.log
Done configuring package. Id = 'RoleTailoredClient' ReturnCode = 1603

... I.e. this is the part of the install that failed (returncode = 1603) and the line above that states the log you need to be looking at for more details.

Hi Kishorm. Thank you so much for that. I will check tomorrow when I go back to the client.

Hi again. I checked the particular log as suggested and it shows an error code of 1603. I have no idea what that means.

It looks like that 2nd log is not the right one...

    a) It looks like another attempt to install the client - same type of info in the log
    b) The 1st log finished at 14:29 whereas the 2nd log started at 14:36

Can you have another look for the correct log file?

    Has this issue been resolved?
I too am getting the same errors in the logs shown here.
I have installed approximately 40 RTC's without getting this errors. They are all identical systems except that Outlook 2013 "64-Bit" is installed the station getting the "Fatal error during installation" message in the "Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 Installation Report".

All other stations are using various Outlook 20xx versions but all are "32-Bit" Outlook apps.
Any idea's based on the 32 vs. 64 bit versions?

    Regards,
    NAKA
