Item category cde & Product group code change

I want to change some items product group code and some items item category code. Is there any impact on inventory valuation report , purchase side other reports.All the previously posted item's product group code and after changes of that item product group code what will be the impact. Is it possible and safe. Please guide me

There is no impact on inventory valuation report. All the existing/historical entries will keep original value. If you need to change history, then you need a custom report.

one thing to watch out for is the item category overwrites the value on item card, like costing method, posting groups etc.
