Hello,

Dynamics Nav 2013
Win8

I'm member of the administration group and execute the Dynamics NAV 2013 installation.
I get an error message (see the picture)

In the install log there is this line in error :
Windows Installer: Error: Service 'Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server [DynamicsNAV70]' (MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DynamicsNAV70) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Any help would be welcome ...

A common problem could be the installation path too long, try to copy the directory in the root and start the setup again.

Thanks Geordie, Do you mean the Dynamics Nav Installation directory ? Its already in root.

Seeing the error type linked to privelegies I created a user with the right to connect as a service.
I used this user to re-install SQL Server - this works
But on the NAV install, the my default SQL instance can't be found !

    I tried then this :
In the installation I tried I had installed SQL SERVER 2012 EXPRESS (WT) before starting the installation of Dynamoics NAV 2013

Now I uninstalled SQL SERVER to ask Dynamics NAV installer to install all (SQL SERVER included).
But The Nav installer shows now another error (see picture).

    Install log says :
    ...
    Configuring package. Id = 'SQLEXPRESS'
Done configuring package. Id = 'SQLEXPRESS' ReturnCode = -2067529717
Rolling back MSI package. Id = 'ARP'
MSI log file set to: C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\setup.wix.msi.48.log
Done rolling back MSI package. ReturnCode = 0
ERROR: Package Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - Express failed with error. See detailed message above.

    Hi,
i think it has nothing to do with NAV 2013.
You probably don't have permission to install new services (it doesn't matter u are in administrator group, there can be GPO etc.)
You should advice with domain administrator.

    Thanks, there is no domain
Its a new win8 installation on a new laptop

Somewhere I read that a win8 user that is member of administrator group has not all the full rights as local buildin administrator
So I gave it a try and I installed Dynamics - but there are 2 points that are not OK :

Only the local Adminitrator account can access Dynamics NAV. When trying to start RTC witha normal user I get no error message and the screen to select the server stays there waiting that I try again

It installed no languages (i'm working in french) - my install media I used x times before contains english and french but when starting RTC as local administrator its only in english.

I absolutely need to make it work for the user who has to test the application on this laptop.
Any hints would be welcome !

I downloaded the language module for french but then I have some difficulties to understand the indications on msdn
    ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee414196(v=nav.70).aspx ) :

What do they mean by :
In the Server folder, run Server.Local.<country/region code>.<language code>.msi.

    Hi,

Install the "Server.Local.<country/region code>.<language code>.msi" which is available in the Installers Folder of the Product Installation File.

    Regards,
    KSP
