Problem while entering characters into Sales order lines

We are using NAV2013 since april.
While entering characters into sales order line using F4 we can enter 3-4 characters before the F4-search window pops up.
Effect is that the entered characters disappears and window is empty :-(
If you not see this you enter some more characters and it gets all wrong.

Any idea of getting all characters in place, not missing those first entered?

    No, it is when we are in the No. field....

    I've been using NAV2013 for a while now for my invoicing and I'm not experiencing this. I just tried.

    If you experience this on the No. field in the SL than your searchcolumn must point to an alternative field since by default it points to the No. field of the selected masterdata. If the latter (default) is active you can only select values that exist.

    What type are you using?

    Have you tried resetting your personalisations?
