I love that Navision is so flexible, but is there any other way to get a report to Excel myself without having to go through the HTML process and the partner?
There are programmatic ways where you need to write code, but if its just table data then you could always cut and paste. You should be able to write a dataport that creates a CSV file. These are very basic and don't require programming knowledge.
I've downloaded a demo version and it does what it says it will do. It's a printer driver. When you choose File>Print it appears in the printer selection drop-down window and "prints" to Excel! It takes a little bit longer to spool for loarger reports, but that's okay with me.
I also understand they are coming out with pre-made profiles which will make it easier to just choose one instead of inventing my own template (profile). But it's exactly what I was looking for!

- Print a preview
- save as HTML
- Open the HTML in Excel
- Save as text-file
- Open the Text-file in Excel
There will be empty columns .. delete them ... .
You can delete the empty rows by:
- selecting a (filled) column
- Edit / Go To
- Special
- select "Blanks"
- click "OK"
- Delete "Entire Row"
