Dears,
I have 2 different companies X and Y who are working on Navision 2009 on different databases. The scenario is that now a Parent company Z has purchased these two X & Y companies and they now want to have a consolidated report for the both X & Y companies as a separate Business units in Parent company Z.
Any ideas to achieve the above scenario?

that's the use case for the consolidation function in NAV. Not quite easy to use, but works. Basically you define two business units X and Y in company Z, and consolidate them into Z.
with best regards
Jens
Consolidation is an out of the box functionality in NAV.
