Error during readmultiple

Hi everyone,
i can't understand why a webservice errors out "item no. "" do not exist" during the following operations:
- create a new line through a nav custom function that sets document type, document no., type = item, responsibility center
- use readmultiple method in order to see all the lines of the document (included the one with the type = item and no. = "")

the error comes out during readmultiple, obviously. But why? Why can't i read this line? does readmultiple do a validation?

maybe it's because i have an Item.GET in the onaftergetrecord trigger of the page.
