Hello experts,
I have not done this in a very long time, so please advice on the following (NAV 5.1):
We will be setting up a new company to an existing database, which is the easiest method of loading inventory quantities for a bin-controlled location? We will be doing full lot tracking, and will be doing a full physicall inventory count. THanks.

I'm afraid there is no really "easy" method. The easiest method would be to load a list of quantities by item/variant/location/bin/lot no. into a physical inventory journal. The loading dataport/xmlport would need code to create the reservation lines for the lot nos. A template for this is the function InertItemJnlLine() in report 790 "Calculate Inventory".

As I understand it, in order to make inv. adjustments for Bin Mandatory (and/or Directed Put-away) locations, you first need to make an entry into the Whse. Item Journal, register the adjustment, then go into the Item Journal to Calc Whse Adjustments and post in order to complete an adjusmtnet for bin controlled locations.
Since this is a new company and would just obviously rather just populate the Item Journal and Post, can I first set my location to NOT be Bin Mandatory and set to Bin Mandatory AFTER I create the initial inventory? Would this be ok? Thanks for your help.
Not that I know of, but we have no directed pick and put away locations. We do only one phys. inventory journal, and have a bin code in every line. Works okay for us. No, this won't work. I've also made adjustment postings using this trick, but the inventory after adjustment was the same as before the adjustment. That is not the case for your scenario.
