Compressing VAT entries

Hi all,
It seems these days that I am stuck in various problems. This time it is report 95 compressing VAT entries.
I know that strictly it is not necessary, but in our time with all the Company take-over, selling and buying it is quite a task to rename more than 3 millions entries.
It would be much easier when entries are compressed.
My problem: it is so sssssllllooooowwww, taking a test it would take around 3 days with lock og G/L entry table among others which is an impossible situation.
Have tried to study keys and filters in debug-mode, they seem to be sensible.
Have anyone any experience about this and possibly what to do about it??
