record variable purchaseHeader to VendorInvoiceNo No result

Hi i make report as following data items
item
purch.inv.line

I defined data link between two table No=No
but i face proplem when i take fied of vendor invoice no from purch.inv.header it not come why
what i make define global variable then give him name purchaseHeader as record datatype then assign to text box as purchaseHeader .VendorInvoiceNo but it come blank no result why
can any one help me

Where did you write code to get the PurchInvheader?
You can add new dataitem Purch. Inv Header under Purch. Inv Line and add link between both..

but how to link to item table
my data item design as following
item
(one indendent)purch.inv.header
(two indent)purch.inv.line
and data item link of purch.inv.line is document no =No,buyfromvendor=buyfromvendor
meaning i make link between item and purch.inv.line
and item and purch.inv.header no link because no key join each other
Now i face another proplem item not connect to table purch.inv.header
please help me
