Hi - I am using NAV Role Tailored Client 2009 r2 on my Windows XP PC. Yesterday the client would not work, I get the message, NAV has encountered a problem and needs to close. The error report contains the following information.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5000
Date: 08/03/2013
Time: 14:17:10
User: N/A
Computer: ************
Description:
EventType clr20r3, P1 microsoft.dynamics.nav.client, P2 6.0.0.0, P3 4d030e65, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 5040540e, P7 e4, P8 10, P9 system.security.security, P10 NIL.

I have reinstalled the Role Tailored Client and .Net Framwork 3.5 sp1 several times without success. I can sign onto another PC, configure the client and then sign into NAV without any issues. It just crashes on my PC everytime it is launched and I have run out of ideas! Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Paul

Does XP still supported by MS? I don't think so. Maybe it a time to spend couple of quids to get Windows 8 ?

Hm, I am wrong - it is still supported till April 8, 2014. No ideas. Maybe clean install?

I'm running into the same issue on a sandbox install of NAV2013 on server 2012 VM. It worked for several months, and then rather suddently stopped.

I had to completely uninstall and reinstall NAV2013 to restore the client.

    Anyone have any additional insight?

    Late reply

Just wanted to share possible solution, in case someone searched for this.

I've had similar problem with NAV 2013 crashing (Error contained "Problem Signature 04: mscorlib"), this was due to a Client add-in DLL failing.

Solution was to empty the "Client Add-in" (shared table) table, via SQL Mgt. Studio
