We have just recently finished updating from 4.02 to 2009, but still have a few people who will infrequently need access to the old database. The service for 4.0 has been turned off, and the database relocated to a network drive as an FDB so it can be access in single user mode.
I am trying to setup a shortcut to simplify the process for those accessing it as much as possible, but have not been able to get it to work properly. I setup the shortcut as shown below, but it will only open Navision and will not go to the database or company.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision\Client\" database=\\gamma\share\IT\OLD-NAV\40NAV.fdb, company="Sales Force"
Is there a way to get this to work with direct network addressing, or do I need to map a drive letter to it?

Moreover, in your command you referred to the folder of the client executable but not to the executable itself. So add fin.exe there (an error, I am certain, you made in this post only, not in your shortcut).
Try the command it from a command line window first, so you can see any error messages displayed there.
