Codeunit 397 was created for sending email.

I understand this but why did ms created a dll too?

Why didn't they use automation with 'Microsoft Outlook 12.0 Object Library'.MailItem

Because not everybody has a Outlook? Because better way (for me) is sending mails using universal SMTP Client ? And this *.dll is just a simple SMTP Client :)
You have a problem with this *.dll ? Why you asking about it?

No, No, when codeunit 397 is used, outlook already must be installed.

My question is "why is there a dll used as a wrapper around the outlook library". Because some methods are now not exposed I still need to use automation with the outlook library..

Hehe sorry, my mistake. I'm using codeunit 400 for a sending mails, not codeunit 375. Maybe you should use it too, instead 375? This codeunit use SMTP servers for sending mails, and don't need an outlook.
