PO Order Date and Requested, Planned, Expected Receipt Dates

If you change the Expected Receipt Date on a PO line it recalculates the Order Date and Planned Receipt Date, based on lead times.
Our customer has asked if we can disable that, so that updating one of these dates has no effect on the others.
Does anyone know if this will cause a problem elsewhere?
This customer doesnt use manufacturing, in case that makes a diifference.
